Course Description
The VTCT (ITEC) Diploma for Beauty Specialists provides a thorough understanding and skills in Facial treatments (with the omission of electricals) manicure/pedicure and waxing for a Beauty Specialist requiring a high level qualification in beauty.
The main aim of the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Specialists is to enable candidates to provide treatments for the purposes of relaxation, and improving the condition of the skin and nails and provide skills at Level 2 in the National Qualification Framework for those interested in the Beauty Therapy industry.
Ideal for those seeking employment in Salons, Health farms, Spas and Cruise Liners.

Course Outline
iUBT427 Skincare and Eye Treatments
This unit enables students to understand the functions of the skin, recognise those contraindications to facial/eye treatment requiring medical permission and to explain and select the appropriate products suitable for client’s skin. The unit also aims at enabling the students to perform cleansing routine, toning and administering appropriate pre-heat treatment, perform skin analysis, enhancing the apperance of eyebrows and lashes through tinting and tweezing, perform facial massage using appropriate mediums and massage movements and demonstrate the correct usage of various masks.
iUBT428 Make-up
This unit enables students to understand and assess the client’s skin type and characteristics, recognise those contraindications to make-up and understand the selection of make-up according to occasion, client colouring, age and preferences. The unit also aims at enabling students to perform appropriate correction, concealing of flaws, perform appropriate contour and highlight on client’s face.
iUBT429 Manicure and Pedicure
This unit enables students to understand the different nail structure and systems, demonstrate how to check for contraindications and recognise any nail diseases and disorders and perform use of various products and tools. The unit also aims at enabling students to file nails according to nail shape, application of cuticle cream or oil, perform massage of hand and lower leg using various classical movements, buffing of nails and the correct application of base coat, nail enamel and top coat.
iUBT430 Waxing
This unit enables students to understand the structure and functions of the skin and hair, perform specific hygiene and understand the precautions for waxing and recognise general contraindications to waxing. The unit also aims at enabling students to sanitise the area to be treated, perform the required test, perform correct application of the appropriate products and the safe disposal of waste.
iUBT434 Professional Conduct and Business Awareness
This unit aims to provide understanding on maintaining a professional working relationship with other students/therapists, understanding on the impact of advertising, the necessity of having professional indemnity insurance, ensuring strict client confidentiality of clients and understanding the need for client’s consent. The unit is also aimed at demonstrating how to put client into the recovery position, supervise an evacuation in case of a fire alarm, carry out basic safety checks for electrical equipment and to promote the appropriate body language at all times.

Certificate Conferring Body
Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Specialist by International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC).
