
Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Massage
Course Description
The foundation course for complementary therapy. The course provides students with a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology of the body so that they have a complete knowledge of the structure and functions of each area on which they are working. The course includes holistic massage incorporating the classical movements treating the whole body.
The main aim of the VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Massage is to enable candidates to provide treatments for the purposes of relaxation and stress release and to provide skills at Level 3 in the National Qualification Framework for those interested in the Complementary Therapy/Care industry.

The VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Diploma for Holistic Massage comprises of ITEC units:

- iUBT432 Holistic Massage
- iUBT434 Professional Conduct and Business Awareness
Course Outline
iUBT435 Anatomy and Physiology
These units are aimed at providing students in understanding the functions of the skeletal system, the structure of bone tissues, position of the bones, possible causes of postural deformities, diseases and disorders of the skeletal system. The units also looks at the structure and function of muscular system, various attachments of muscles and understand the terms in relation to the muscular contraction and lactic acid, the functions of the skin and the types of the skin disorders and diseases.
iUBT432 Holistic Massage
This unit aims at providing students the knowledge of consultation, the importance of massage, common ailments and contraindications to massage and understand the correct hygiene procedures. This unit also enables students to understand the methodologies on dealing with First Aid emergencies, the possible reactions to treatment, selection of the appropriate medium for the treatment and demonstrate the classical massage movements and their physiological and psychological effects.
iUBT434 Professional Conduct and Business Awareness
This unit aims to provide understanding on maintaining a professional working relationship with other students/therapists, understanding on the impact of advertising, the necessity of having professional indemnity insurance, ensuring strict client confidentiality of clients and understanding the need for client’s consent. The unit is also aimed at demonstrating how to put client into the recovery position, supervise an evacuation in case of a fire alarm, carry out basic safety checks for electrical equipment and to promote the appropriate body language at all times.

Full-Time – 2.5 Months x 5 Days Per Week x 5 Hours Per Day

Course Commencement Date
Courses will commence on every 1st and 15th of every month.
Certificate Conferring Body
Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded the VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Massage by International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC).
